We found the Fountain of Youth…in Puerto Rico!

We found the Fountain of Youth…in Puerto Rico!

At PWP Studio we’re known for our love of travel, so when our pals at East Coast Entertainment offered us a chance to photograph an incentive trip to Puerto Rico– we were on board! For three days we were spoiled at the El San Juan Resort and Casino, the site of some of the most dazzling beaches in PR, and hottest nightclubs! But we’re getting ahead of ourselves.

To introduce their award winning hospitality and welcome the guests, the El San Juan Resort set up a tantalizing welcome dinner, complete with entertaining steel drum performances.

During the next day, guests were given an opportunity to play volleyball in a tournament staged on the beach.

Of course, because this was an incentive trip, we had to celebrate employee performances– and what better way than with an awards dinner? Not only does El San Juan Resort have the perfect ambiance for the event, but they entertain, as well! The “Gentleman Thief” was too much fun.

Of course, relaxation is one of the main reasons to vacation in Puerto Rico. The resort is surrounded by 15 lush acres of rain forest, and on our hike we learned some spa history, for instance: when the Spanish Conquistadors landed there, the native Taino people told them about the healing properties of the hot springs…in other words, the famed fountain of youth! So we made like Ponce de Leon, and explored our way through (and up!) the trees toward the Yokahu Tower observation point.

Our trip came to end with a beachfront farewell dinner, complete with local bands and dancers in full costume. San Juan really knows how to have a good time! In fact, the El San Juan Resort and Casino is host to Club BRAVA and Ultra Lounge– the premiere nightclub in Puerto Rico! On the weekends (starting Thursday) even the lobby is packed with club-goers looking for a place to simultaneously chill out and dance the night away.

Big thanks to East Coast Entertainment for having us as part of their team. And if you’re interested in the white sand beaches of Puerto Rico, you can “like” El San Juan Resort on Facebook for up-to-date information on their events and specials!

Fiery Florals and Fun at Opera’s Atlanta Event Center

Fiery Florals and Fun at Opera’s Atlanta Event Center

If you’ve ever gone out for a night on the town in Georgia’s capital, you probably know that Opera is one of Atlanta’s hottest nightclubs. But did you know that you can host your own private club at Opera? That’s right– they do events as well. The Atlanta Event Center at Opera is able to host up to 1,000 guests, and they have in-house catering as well. Their fabulous event sales manager Lindsay Smith gave PWP Studio a call to photograph a fundraiser with the Metro Atlanta Chamber.

The buffets were as attractive as they were delicious, and accented perfectly by the unique floral arrangements. Those particular tulips are called “Flaming Parrot” and were brought in just for the occasion!

Gorgeous, right? Now you might ask yourself, “Self…why did the Atlanta Event Center at Opera want to use FLAMING parrot tulips in particular?” Well, after the incredible performance by the aerialists on silks…

…there was a little bit of FLAMING fire action on the stage!!

This was the first event in this space to have pyrotechnics, and we think it came out AWESOME! Thanks so much for having us there to capture photos of this fun fire, Lindsay!

Sometimes you just have to have fun….

Sometimes you just have to have fun….

Shooting at the Georgia Dome on Wednesday night and I took a minute from being WOW’ed by all the eye candy to capture a quick “Where’s Waldo” image at the DJ booth….can you see me?? The second image is jusssst a pretty picture – one of the many images we are working on here at the studio today!

Fundraising with Washington and Lee at the Atlanta History Center

Fundraising with Washington and Lee at the Atlanta History Center

We got a phone call from our lovely friend Kim Pollard at Atlanta’s Bold American…you know, the folks that do amazing events, have great venues, delicious catering, and a handful of fabulous restaurants around Atlanta? Well, the very prestigious Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia was hosting a fund raising event and needed a photographer. PWP Studio was more than happy to oblige!

This event was part of a multi-year fundraising effort by WLU for both their alumni and active students called “Honor our Past, Build Our Future.” This fundraiser has had multiple events in some of the best cities across America, this particular one was held at the largest history museum in the southeast…the Atlanta history Center!

The beautiful Grand Overlook Ballroom.

Man, don’t those olives look good!

The Atlanta History Center does more than just corporate events, or fundraisers like this one. They have the ability to host lectures, weddings, you can even film your next blockbuster movie there! With so many different types of venues to choose from (The flower filled Swan House Gardens, the rustic Smith Family Farm, or inside the elegant Atlanta History Museum itself) you’re sure to find a look that matches up with your vision.

Speaking of finding something– if you visit the Atlanta History Center website, you can play a little game of “Where’s Waldo Patrick?” with the head honcho of PWP Studio! Comment and tell us if you found him in one of the front page photos. It just goes to show you– PWP Studio is everywhere!

Team Building with Tribal Drums

Team Building with Tribal Drums

The folks at Corporate Events Unlimited are at it again. We were out in the sun with them last time, this time we covered a corporate team building event for them held at night.

The venue was stunning…

and the food was spot-on…

What made this event really special was the activity that night.

Every person was given a drum to play with to communicate non-verbally and foster unity through music; reminiscent of native tribe rituals and celebrations where the whole community gathers around a campfire.

The amazing and talented team from Drum Café led the night as they guided the company to become a tribe that embraces individual diversity and leadership.

2011 Year End Highlights

2011 Year End Highlights

Well, it is almost like clockwork, except that it IS clockwork – every year at this time we put off our tax work, try to stop plotting out new year’s business resolutions, and pause for a moment to reflect on the end of the year jussst long enough to give you fine folks some great images here on the blog! Although we are very excited about 2012 – our first year as the official Corporate Event Photographer of the Georgia Chapter of Meeting Planners International (GaMPI) and our first year without a single wedding on the books [that is right – the cousins are ALL married off now!) – here are a few highlights from the end of 2011!

Pink Power Moms Arrive in Atlanta!

Pink Power Moms Arrive in Atlanta!

by William Fogler (WM Events)

Moms are special people. From the love notes in your lunch box to their all-purpose cleaning saliva, they know how to do just about anything and make you feel like you’re the only person in the world. And that’s exactly how we wanted to make these 40 Pink Power Moms feel during a weekend of festivities and celebrations around Atlanta. For the last 4 years, Kids II, Inc. has honored 8 worthy women who have survived breast cancer and then gone on to do something monumental by presenting them with a $5,000 award and a pampering weekend in Atlanta. This landmark year brought 32 Legacy Moms back to join the 8 new Pink Power Moms in a spectacular 5 Year Anniversary spectacular. Take a look below at the phenomenal photography of Patrick Williams, and a few descriptions of what the Pink Power Mom weekend was all about!

Saturday morning began with individual spa treatments for each Mom in their hotel room, followed by… (Read more)

Loved the Kiwi Mango Soda from South Africa at the Del Monte Fresh Produce Event!

Loved the Kiwi Mango Soda from South Africa at the Del Monte Fresh Produce Event!

A Legendary Event did it again with fantastic theme-appropriate food and lots of great decor at the 50′s themed Del Monte Fresh Produce client appreciation event. Del Monte also provided some cool theme touches: custom scarves designed with fruits and the Del Monte logo, retro sunglasses for guests, and a few table-tops design elements!

The event was held at Coca-cola’s Taste It! space, where fountains of Coca-cola products from all over the world were also available for sampling (my fav: Kiwi Mango Soda from South Africa!). The venue has a private entrance to its 4,500 square feet area – dotted with gobo holders and flat panel monitors for event branding…because that is what you would expect from a branding powerhouse like Coca-Cola! Taste It! which can normally accommodate 250 guests of a casual reception or 100 guests of a seated dinner, was just right for the Del Monte event’s 60 guests and roaming buffet.

PWP Studio featured roaming event photography and provided an on-site printing station to compliment the 50′s background. Themed prints were made available in black-and-white just like that of films of the era.

Congratulations on Receiving the Circle of Excellence Award!

Congratulations on Receiving the Circle of Excellence Award!

This goes to the selected Global Payments, Inc. employees who were recognized for excelling in their positions and going above and beyond their regular duties.

The awards night was held in the Atlanta History Center – the perfect venue for this kind of event. Cocktail hour was in the exhibits and pre-function area. The actual dinner was at the beautiful and elegant Grand Overlook Ballroom – with a view of the Quarry Gardens seen through an entire wall of 14 foot windows. The ballroom which can accommodate up to 400 people in a reception, was the ideal location for the seated served dinner for the 110 guests at the event.

Affairs to Remember locked the success of the event with the exquisite decor, excellent lighting and sumptuous food. Their team was on top of everything making sure that the  activities during the event went smoothly and was to the satisfaction of their client.
